Mission Statement and Philosophy

The New Jersey Renegades Ice Hockey Club, playing out of Flemington Ice Arena, is a USA Hockey registered hockey club.

The Renegades concentrate on our players’ individual skill development. Our main focus has always been to develop highly skilled players in preparation for their future hockey endeavors. Almost all prep schools and colleges limit their schedules to less than 40 games and concentrate more on daily practices. The Renegades bring that concept to their travel hockey club.

Our program follows USA Hockey ADM guidelines of a 3-to-1 ratio of practice time to game time for Mites & Squirts and 2-1 for all other divisions. Game schedules are very competitive but our practices, overall training and preparation are the cornerstone of the program.

Players who develop, improve their skills and get their fair share of ice time will be happy and stay with the program. All players get to play in all games and in all situations. It is important to get them repetitions in both practice and games otherwise how are they going to develop? What good is a system if the team can’t pass, skate or shoot properly? If every player’s individual skills are better it would make it easier for everyone, not only to execute individually, but to function more successfully in overall team play.

Our coaches strive for excellence by teaching respect, discipline, responsibility, and accountability on and off the ice all in a fun, family, learning environment.
